“In her minimalist compositions, Palovick employs an economy of marks to suggest both the delicate and the destructive. The small, carefully placed flecks of brown that litter the page are actually burn marks, made with a tool conventionally used to brand wood. The markings suggest a subdued violence, even hinting at the possibility of complete destruction. The restraint and precision of Palovick’s process, however, result in poetic images that are lyrical and even playful.”
